Kumho Polychem, No.1 EPDM manufacturer in Asia, held a ceremony for completion of its 2nd plant in Yeosu national complex on September 12th.

The latest plant built on 66,000 square meters (16.3 acres) of land is 30 percent larger than the existing plant. It has state of the art environment & safety management system and is built by its self-developed technology which embraces its technical knowhow accumulated since its foundation.

Kumho Polychem decided construction of new plant x-based on conclusion it needs to intensify its market power for EPDM. Even though demands for EPDM decrease because of global recession at the moment, it expects continuous economic growth of Asian country including China and India in the future. It spent about a year to complete the construction.

EPDM is used for making car bumpers and washer tubes or cables that require high tolerance against detergent or saltwater. With the new plant, the company can produce 160,000 tons of EPDM a year and will become the third-largest producer in the world behind Germany’s Lanxess and the United States’ Exxon Mobil.
